A dinner that fueled a song
Some songs come out of the blue. Others begin around the dinner table.
“Two Nights in Memphis” started that way. Debbie and I were sitting with my brother Eric and his wife Karen over Thanksgiving dinner, telling stories and sharing memories. At some point, we started talking about a recent road trip we had taken together. It was just the two of us. No rush. No distractions. Just the open road and time to connect, to talk, to laugh, and to connect deeply and build on our relationship.
We had left from Canada and headed south to Booneville, Arkansas to visit my sister Audrey and my brother-in-law Pat. On the way, we stopped in Memphis. That part of the trip gave us more than we expected. It gave us stillness, connection, and space to be fully present with each other. We talked about the long drive, the quiet stretches, the joy in simplicity, and how that time together fueled the romance and planted the seeds that would become the foundation of our love today.
Later that night, Eric took the dog out for a walk. When he came back, he had the song. Somehow, the emotion in our story stayed with him and found its way into lyrics.
A road that brought us closer
There was nothing complicated about the trip. Just two people, the hum of the highway, and the quiet comfort of each other’s company. We listened to music. We held hands. We let the noise of everyday life fall away.
And in that gentle silence between cities, something shifted. It fueled what would grow into the love we feel today.
A love letter in every line
When I stepped into Treblecock Studios to record “Two Nights in Memphis,” I knew I was not just recording a song. I was offering a piece of my heart.
This one is for Deb. It is a love letter set to music. A thank you for her patience, her laughter, her kindness, and the way she continues to walk beside me, no matter where the road leads.
Every lyric is a reflection of that journey. It is not just about a destination. It is about what we found in each other along the way.
Sharing this with you feels vulnerable, but it also feels right. Because love like this deserves a song.
For anyone who has traveled that road
This song is for anyone who has discovered that love is often found in the quiet moments. It is for anyone who has taken a trip and returned with something deeper than souvenirs. It is for those who understand that sometimes the simplest journeys can open the deepest parts of our hearts.
We all have our own “Memphis.”
Thank you for letting me share a piece of my journey with you. I hope you enjoy the exclusive release of my song below, free for a limited time.
