Defining Moments After 5o Shaping Your Style and Fashion
Hi, welcome back! It’s part two of my style journey chats. But it is not just another conversation about clothes. It’s a glimpse into the lives of two individuals, both dynamic in their own right, yet entirely distinct in their approach to life and their personal aesthetic. Neither of them follows fashion guidelines or expectations regarding “age appropriate attire”. Age-based stereotypes are not welcome here. What is welcome, though, is their refreshing approach to style that aligns with who they are now.
Jodi Goodfellow
“Today, I mix textures, prints, and subtle details with restraint, creating looks that are polished but never boring – like if a cappuccino became a person with great taste and wore a bit of glitter here and there.” ~ Jodi Goodfellow
Jodi Goodfellow occupies a beautiful and complex space. She has assembled a life that is varied and demanding, mixed with ambition and artistry. Besides launching her own PR Agency, she is also a teacher, a flight attendant and the Founder and Executive Producer of Startup Fashion Week, a rare platform dedicated to emerging talent in an industry often swallowed up by the mainstream. Phew, Jodi wears a lot of hats! When we spoke, I could sense her infectious energy. And she is a dog lover too. So, I am already sold.
Jodi is no stranger to the ever-changing world of fashion, especially as her 50th birthday approaches. Yet she seemed unbothered by all the ‘things you can’t wear after a certain age’ noise that hovers in the air. For instance, miniskirts, once tucked away, have made their way back to her closet. It feels intentional and unapologetic. Jodi knows who she is. Her many looks have a spirited confidence. She can walk into any room like she owns the runway, because, honestly, she kind of does! Jodi says, “I am not bracing for 50, I am embracing it.” There’s a sense of freedom that comes from her knowing who she is and loving every bit of herself. Embrace it, Jodi.

Wells Davis
“For me, it’s really just a vibe.” ~ Wells Davis
Wells Davis is a marketing and advertising strategist, an art collector and a chef. It’s safe to say, if there’s one thing to adore, it’s a man who can whip up a delicious meal while contemplating the next ingredient that will add some flavor and flair to his wardrobe.
Wells was the perfect person to speak with about style because he has it in droves. Wells shared that he has physically transformed in the last few years. He has lost 100 pounds. “When you feel overweight, you tend to hide behind bigger shirts and darker shades. But once you feel lighter, you naturally gravitate toward brighter colors and lighter fabrics,” he said. We had a fascinating chat about the realm of style and choice. On sunny days in his home in L.A., he opts for brighter clothes because they lift his spirits. “I don’t have a lot of accessories, just glasses and hats.” Wells was wearing a hat when I chatted with him. I thought it was lace at first, but it wasn’t. He told me it was crocheted. It looked cool. He is a cool guy.

Stay Curious
I’m always curious about how people carry their story and how that story can shape their approach to fashion and self-presentation. There’s a boldness and bravery in wearing a hat, and a playfulness in altering your hair, but having the willpower to change your life is courageous.
Stay tuned for part three of my series, Style Unscripted, where I look into the fashion narratives of two more of my anti-trend heroes who are confidently mastering their own fashion journeys after 50. Join me here at RestlessUrban as we remind ourselves that style knows no age.
