Laura Pevehouse

Curious Explorer

"I'm rediscovering what 'home' means."

Meet Laura Pevehouse, a reformed corporate communications professional who spent 20+ years at Dell Technologies helping shape the voice of a global brand, and is now remembering what her own voice sounds like.

After more than a decade of crafting executive messages, managing social media empires, and yes, even building a virtual Dell Island in Second Life (it was 2007, the metaverse was just starting to take off), Laura is taking time to write her own story instead of everyone else’s.

But here’s the thing about leaving a long corporate career: you realize all those skills you built—storytelling, strategic thinking, connecting with audiences—they don’t disappear. They just find new places to land. And in Laura’s case, they’re landing at WhereTheWindBlows.Me, and other publications such as Restless Urban.

As a Restless Urban Explorer, Laura writes about why wandering (literally and figuratively) becomes more appealing as we get older, and what it means to build something entirely your own when you’re used to building for others.

A farmer’s daughter from rural northeast Louisiana who grew into an adventurous world traveler, Laura earned her degree from LSU before eventually calling Austin home—though these days, she’s redefining what ‘home’ really means.
