Dress for the Life You’re Living
I’ve been reflecting on my style lately and what that means, especially after I navigate life past fifty. As someone who is naturally curious (really, I ask A LOT of questions), I spoke with six very different individuals about their feelings on the subject. Each had their own unique style history, but they all shared a common thread. Confidence.
These conversations revealed something important for me. We are not defined by the clothes we wear, our latest haircut or the accessories we choose. We dress not to fit in, but to stand out and express the layers of identity we’ve cultivated over the years. In a world that may offer platitudes of safety, let’s instead choose the courage to be truly seen. Many say dressing is based on a formula, but that doesn’t carry identity, does it? You don’t have to play it safe, and you don’t need universal approval. At this time in your life, you already know who you are.
I have learned to look in the mirror and say, “This is me,” rather than “Is this OK?”
I invite you to tune into my new three-part series, Style Unscripted, at RestlessUrban. I had a great time chatting not only about fashion choices with some incredible people, but also about the stories behind those choices. I love talking ‘style’, at any age.
My first episode drops on Thursday, February 26, 2025.
See you then.
