My escape to the lodge at Woodloch

Blending luxury with mind-body rejuvenation

If there’s one place that knows how to blend luxury with total mind-body rejuvenation, it’s The Lodge at Woodloch. As someone who speaks about wellness and gets to experience a lot of spa retreats, I have to say – this place is next level. Tucked away in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, it’s like stepping into a peaceful sanctuary where the only thing on your to-do list is to relax and recharge.

When you arrive

From the moment you arrive, you feel it – that deep exhale. The front desk will ask you to silence your phone and not use it in public areas. The grounds are stunning, surrounded by woodlands that immediately make you want to slow down. Whether you’re sipping herbal tea by the giant outdoor fire pit or strolling the garden paths, there’s this incredible sense of calm that just washes over you.

The spa

Let’s talk about the spa—because wow. The treatments here go beyond your typical massage. Sure, you can get a classic deep tissue (and it’s amazing), but they also offer unique therapies like sound healing, forest bathing, and vibrational massages. If you’re looking to reset your nervous system and melt away stress, the Aqua Garden is a must. It’s an indoor pool area with hydromassage waterfalls, and soaking in those warm waters while looking out at the forest? Pure bliss. Did I mention the Snow Room, indoor/outdoor hot tubs and infinity pool? You could literally lounge in the Aqua Garden all day.

Activities

But what really sets The Lodge at Woodloch apart is how they approach whole-person wellness. It’s not just about pampering—it’s about nourishing your mind, body, and spirit. Their class schedule is packed with everything from yoga and meditation to creative workshops and nature hikes. Whether you want to break a sweat in a spin class or learn how to make herbal tinctures, there’s something for everyone.

As a wellness speaker, I love how thoughtful and intentional their programming is. When I host sessions here, the guests are always so engaged—I think it’s because The Lodge creates this environment where people feel safe to unwind and explore new ideas. There’s a focus on mindfulness and personal growth that really resonates with anyone looking to reset and reconnect with themselves.

Culinary options

And let’s not forget the food—because it deserves a whole moment. The culinary team is all about farm-to-table goodness, and every meal is a treat. Think fresh, seasonal ingredients, lots of nourishing options, and yes, you can still have dessert (the flourless chocolate cake is life-changing). They accommodate all kinds of dietary preferences without making it feel like you’re missing out—which is a win in my book.

And don’t despair, there is a bar within their restaurant that makes out-of-this-world cocktails and offers a surprisingly good wine list.

What really strikes me about The Lodge is the balance they offer. You can fill your day with activities, or you can do absolutely nothing. No judgment, no pressure. It’s about what your body and soul need in the moment. Whether you’re on a solo retreat, a girls’ getaway, or a wellness weekend with your significant other, there’s this sense that you’re exactly where you need to be.

Getting here

The only downside to The Lodge at Woodloch is its proximity to mass transit. If you’re not within driving distance, the nearest airport (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre International) is 55 miles and the nearest train is 75 miles.

If you’re craving a break from the hustle and want a place to rest, reflect, and recharge, I can’t recommend The Lodge at Woodloch enough. It’s more than a spa—it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave. And trust me, once you’ve been here, you’ll want to come back again and again.
