I’ve been a writer and editor for 30-odd years and a remote worker long before it was the norm (and certainly before it was practical). That meant working abroad before the invention of the smartphone, before the age of social media, when I’d have to file stories at an Internet café alongside backpackers and gamers.
I’ve had various beats over the years, from tech and travel, to health, entertainment and finance. What I discovered along the way is a love of lifelong learning, which I swear is the secret to longevity.
To me, health and wellness — and aging well — goes far beyond counting calories and getting your steps in. It’s about continually learning, continually challenging yourself and, every now and then, stepping outside your comfort zone. That, to me, is far more effective than Botox.
At RestlessUrban, my approach to covering health and wellness isn’t to be prescriptive. After all, our generation is furiously independent and we don’t like being told what to do (myself included). Rather, my hope is to inspire readers to find their own path, especially if — like me — you have no intention of slowing down any time soon.
